International Conference on Technology, Science and Society

The Community on Technology, Science and Society aims to examine the nature of new technologies, their connections with the community, their uses as tools for learning, and their place in a ‘knowledge society’. The community interacts through an in-person conference held annually in different parts of the world, as well as by means of a family of indexed and arbitrated journals and a collection of academic reflection books.

Members of this knowledge community include academics, researchers, professors, policy makers, public administrators, consultants and technologists as well as students and doctoral students.

The International Conference on Technology, Science and Society has become a discussion forum exploring those technologies which can influence the means of production and distribution of knowledge – especially information and communication technologies – and technologies social, understood as a factor of social integration from the ideals of an open society in which technology is used to meet human needs and to serve community interests. The conference includes prominent speakers, some of the most prestigious thinkers in the world, as well as presentations, workshops and seminars taught by professors, researchers and professionals from both the public and private sectors. The official languages are Spanish, Portuguese and English.

Prof. Karim Gherab Martín, PhD Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Spain)

Karim Gherab Martín is a professor in the Faculty of Humanities at Rey Juan Carlos University. He has a degree in Theoretical Physics and a PhD in Philosophy of Science and Technology. He has been a visiting professor at prestigious universities, such as Harvard University (2008-2009), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2010) and Paris-Diderot University in Paris (2013). He has also been an associate professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid and the University of the Basque Country, a researcher at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) (2011-2013), and he has carried out consulting work for Indra, Telefónica, Atos-Origin and Accenture. In 2005 he received the Everis Foundation Trial Prize for the work, The Temple of Knowledge: Towards the Universal Digital Library (2006, Ed. Deusto).
