Environmental policy: sustainability, consumption, waste, and the effects on human and environmental equity

Environmental policy, especially that which is related to sustainability and sustainable development, is a broad, controversial and even elastic concept in its meanings and connotations. Therefore, this year, the X International Conference of Social Sciences focuses on examining this topic from a systemic perspective, trying to extract its fundamental elements and generating conclusions about the human and environmental effects of sustainability or that genuine interest in satisfying current needs without compromising the capacity of future generations. There is no doubt that the search for sustainability, from economic, social, cultural, political and ecological perspectives, demands the articulation of the criteria that approach development from official authorities together with grassroots initiatives. It also calls for considering the symbiosis between local and global aspects, with the purpose of approaching intergenerational and intragenerational equity. Ultimately, this event aims to reflect on this theme, in terms of connections, relationships and contexts.
